September Newsletter

“Whenever I hear the song of a bird
Or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face
Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by our lilac tree,
I’m glad that I live in the beautiful world
Heavenly Father created for me.”

As I was thinking about what I wanted to say this month, this song kept coming to my mind.  I have a particular love for small colorful birds.  I have some beautiful, colorful finches  and have had many different ones over the years.  Some look like they have been hand painted!  Whenever I can, I love to go to the bird store and just look at all the varieties of birds with their different and unusual colorings.  I even got to hold a baby Toucan at one of the stores I visited.  For me, it is birds that I get great pleasure from.  For some of you it may be a great love for flowers or colorful fish or some unusual rock formation.  We are told in the scriptures that our Heavenly Father created this beautiful Earth and all the varieties of wild life and plant life for our pleasure.  He has said, “Man is that he might have joy”.  Though we seem to be experiencing great turmoil and stress in our society today, I hope that we can find something beautiful everyday that will bring us peace and pleasure, and remind us that our Heavenly Father truly loves us.
